This small town is situated between the lakes Thun and Brienz is a very good base for winter sports and skiing trip in Switzerland Bernese Oberland. Mighty peaks Eiger, Mönch, and towers above Interlaken Jungfrau mountain offering spectacular beauty and richness of winter ski and snow holiday activities.
Prime location Interlaken offers access to the famous Jungfrau Top Ski Region of Switzerland, which includes the resort Grindelwald, Mürren, and Wengen. Junfrau region provides 213 kilometers (113 miles) from the road down the hill, accessed by 45 cable cars and lifts. There are three major ski areas in the region: the Mürren-Schilthorn, the Kleine-Scheidegg-Männlichen, and Grindelwald-First area.
Winter sports activities include heli-skiing and heli-boarding, ice hiking (with a local guide who is available for teaching), sledding, hockey, ice skating, and snowshoeing.
Some time should be set aside for sightseeing in the area. Visitors can take the wheel gear train from Interlaken to Jungfraujoch, the "Top of Europe." Tours include day trips from Interlaken to Bern and view train trip to Lucerne. A relatively new attraction in Interlaken is a mystery-themed park with seven buildings that offer insights into the mysteries of the planet can not be explained.
